United Way of Lake County’s Women’s Leadership Council is Now Accepting Funding Requests for 2018 Grant Program
Mentor, OH (January 29, 2018) – United Way of Lake County’s Women’s Leadership Council is now accepting funding requests from non-profit agencies and organizations for programs that directly benefit the lives of women and girls in Lake County.
The purpose of the Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) is to positively impact the lives of women through the philanthropic efforts of giving, advocating and volunteering. They work toward this, in part, via the support of 501(c)(3) and nonprofit organizations in Lake County by providing grants that promote a similar mission geared toward women.
Parties interested in applying for funds must fill out a grant application form which can be found on United Way of Lake County’s website at www.uwlc.org/wlc-2018-grant-funding-application. Organizations and agencies selected to receive grants will be announced when funds are distributed this summer.
The Women’s Leadership Council of the United Way of Lake County raises donations throughout the year to support the grant funding program through membership fees and fundraising events like the Solstice Garden party held this past summer and their annual Women's Winterfest & Holiday Food Tasting Fundraiser in December.
“Our desire is to engage and empower women to work together to uplift other women and girls in Lake County,” said WLC chair Maureen Pross of Lake Health. “In addition to our grant awards program, our members volunteer throughout the year for causes dedicated to improving lives.”
According to Tami Lewis, United Way of Lake County’s Director of Marketing and Communications, “Our Women’s Leadership Council is a dynamic group who encourage other women and girls to think big and understand that their voices matter.”
This is the fourth funding cycle being offered since the WLC was reestablished in August of 2013. Over the past three years the WLC has awarded grants totaling $57,151. Some of the WLC’s past grant recipients have included:
