United Way of Lake County to Host 2023 Campaign Kickoff August 30 with 2023 Campaign Chair Richard N. Selby II, Managing Partner, Dworken & Bernstein
Mentor, OH (July 20, 2023) – United Way of Lake County (UWLC) will celebrate their 2023 Campaign Kickoff Wednesday, August 30, 2023. The event will be led by the organization’s 2023 Campaign Chair, Richard N. Selby II, Managing Partner of Dworken & Bernstein.
UWLC President and CEO Dione DeMitro adds, “We are thrilled to formally announce Ric as our 2023 Campaign Chair. With a distinguished record as both a businessperson and community volunteer, he brings a unique perspective and passion to the table.”
UWLC’s kickoff will be held over lunch from 11:30 pm – 1 pm at Springbook Gardens in Mentor, located at 6776 Heisley Road. It is open to the public for $20 per person with advance registration at uwlc.org/kickoff-2023.
“I am honored to serve as United Way of Lake County’s 2023 Campaign Chair. Too many people in our community are struggling to stay afloat and meet their basic needs,” said Selby.
Selby is a passionate leader who grew up learning the importance of differentiating between needs and wants. “I understand the value of having food, clothing, shelter, and medical care,” he said. “It is important for us to recognize that these are essential needs that every person in our community deserves access to, along with a place to turn in times of crisis. United Way helps provide all of this and more.”
Selby is a managing partner at Dworken & Bernstein where he heads their Commercial Litigation Department. He joined the firm in 2000 and became a partner in 2011 and a managing partner in 2022. Selby has extensive trial experience in both state and federal court. He regularly consults with clients on employment-related issues and assists at trial with the class action department when matters go to trial. Selby has been recognized as a Super Lawyer Rising Star and was included in the 2019 edition of Best Lawyers in America. He is a contributing editor to Attorney at Law Magazine featuring articles on employment law.
In preparation for his role as UWLC’s 2023 Campaign Chair, Selby has pulled together a group of respected leaders to work with him in publicly championing the annual campaign. These integral volunteers will help raise awareness around the organization’s mission, maximize fundraising efforts, and increase community engagement. They, along with many UWLC agency partners will be at the kickoff to share information and lend their support.
One of the event highlights will include the awarding of the 2023 Nissan Sentra SV that UWLC has been selling raffle tickets for over the summer. Ten finalists will be drawn on August 25, 2023, and invited to attend the Campaign Kickoff, where each will receive a key to the car’s ignition. The finalist whose key turns on the car will win their choice of the car or $15,000 compliments of Mentor Nissan. The winner of their second raffle for $1,000 will also be drawn and announced at this time.
