Buyers Products Company Makes $10,000 Gift to Lake County Relief Fund
March 26, 2020 – Mentor, OH –United Way of Lake County (UWLC) announced that Buyers Products Corporation of Mentor made a $10,000 gift to their Lake County Relief Fund. They are the first local organization to step up and make a contribution to help the residents of Lake County during the COVID-19 pandemic we’re all facing.
United Way of Lake County announced establishment of the Lake County Relief Fund on March 18, 2020. Its purpose is to help ensure individuals, children and families in need are supported during this health crisis. Buyers Products Corporation immediately took action and made a gift.
“Our number one concern during this pandemic is our employees, their families, and the place they call home, “says Mark Saltzman, President and CEO of Buyers Products. “Lake County is an extended part of the Buyers family. We’d encourage all businesses in the area to support the community in any way they can. “
He adds, “You will find our parts and products all over fire trucks, ambulances, municipal trucks, refuse collection trucks, and utility service fleets across the country. The work that the people of Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, and surrounding counties do keeps America running, and we have to do our best to give back in times of great need.”
United Way of Lake County works solely for the benefit of Lake County residents in need. A full 100% of donations raised from the Lake County Relief Fund will be put back into the community.
Monetary donations from the fund will be used to alleviate unforeseen needs that are rapidly arising in our county due to the pandemic. UWLC is working with their partner agencies and other social service agencies to identify critical needs and resource gaps. This currently include a need for food, medical and cleaning supplies, help for Lake County’s homeless, elderly and more.

I’m also grateful to Meijer in Mentor for the $13,000 gift they made to the Lake County Relief Fund. We’re also receiving many donations from residents and appreciate every dollar received.” said Jennifer McCarty, President and CEO of UWLC. “Lake County is a very caring community. We’re all in this pandemic together and we need the support of those able to give now more than ever. I implore everyone in a position to do so, to consider making a gift.”
Donations to the Lake County Relief Fund can be made in one of three ways: online at uwlc.org/give; by texting LCRelief to 44321; or by mailing a check payable to United Way of Lake County to United Way of Lake County, ATT: Lake County Relief, 9285 Progress Pkwy, Mentor, OH 44060.
Two additional businesses who have found a way to give back in the face of COVID-19 include Molinari’s in Mentor and Bistro 70 in Painesville. Both are donating 10% of sales from their carry out service to UWLC’s Lake County Relief Fund.
According to United Way of Lake County’s Marketing and Communications Director Tami Lewis, “We just can't say enough about how thankful we are for businesses like these who have found a way to give back in the face of the hardships they are experiencing. It’s our hope that those in our community with the means to do so will support them during this time.”

In response to the growing need for food due to layoffs, children who are home from school, and the need to ensure our elderly are fed, UWLC held an emergency food distribution March 18, 2020. The organization provided $20,000 in food to 40 Lake County food pantries. They also donated 20 cases of food to The Salvation Army in Painesville from the postponement of their annual Celebrity Server Fundraiser which was scheduled to be held on March 12, 2020.
